Women's soccer loses conference openers

    The UNO Women’s soccer team took two losses this weekend against North Dakota State and South Dakota State.

    The first game against the South Dakota State Bison’s was a 2-1 overtime loss. The Bison got their first point on the board at 13:53. The game was tied in the 40th minute of the first half by an own goal. The teams played the game evenly until Lauren Miller scored her second goal at 98:20 during sudden death overtime.

    Chelsi Rohloff and Hannah Wampler each had one shot on goal for the Mavericks, with nine shots total for the team compared to 11 total and six on goal for North Dakota state.

    The second game against South Dakota State was played Sunday afternoon in a 1-0 loss. South Dakota State’s single goal was made by Darci Miller at 11:05.

    South Dakota State held the advantage against UNO in shots 19 to four overall and eight to two in shots on goal. Meaghan Clark made six saves in the match to help keep UNO within striking distance.

    The Mavericks will return to Omaha to face Denver on Friday.
