Volleyball falls to South Dakota State jackrabbits

University of Nebraska at Omaha’s volleyball team began its final road trip Friday night as it fell 3-1 to South Dakota State by set scores of 17-25, 12-25, 25-18, 23-25 at the Frost Arena.
Kelley Wollak led the team with 12 kills, while both Megan Schmale and Diane Banderas had seven. Sophomore Bailey Baxter led the Mavericks with 21 assists, along with seven digs. Freshman Kristy Wieser totaled 18 digs for the game, and Kimberly Bailey led the Mavs defensively with 20 digs of her own.
Most sets were fairly one-sided, but the final set had 14 ties, and six lead changes with the final score ending with a 25-23 lead for South Dakota State.
The Jackrabbits were led by two players, with double figure kills in Wagner Larson, and Tiara Gibson who had 13 and 11 kills, respectively. South Dakota also had a hefty advantage in team blocks at eight to three.
The Mavs will finish the season at home against South Dakota University and Denver.
