  • rogers1 Record set, six event wins at Doane Relays

    In the second to last weekend of competition, the UNO women’s track team didn’t show any signs of slowing down. Two days of competition at the Doane Relays earned the Mavs one meet record that was just shy of a school record, six event wins and eight personal bests.

  • Track grabs two wins at Wichita State

    A week after winning four events at Northwest Missouri State, the UNO women’s track team followed it up with two wins and more success at the 2012 KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State.  Sophomore Kathie-Lee Laidley won the long jump with a wind-aided mark of 19-09.

  • Spenner, track continue strong outdoor season

    UNO’s Sami Spenner won three events and took second in another at the 2012 Ashley Nally Heptathlon at Northwest Missouri State on Sunday.  Spenner won the heptathlon, long jump and 800 meters, while finishing second in the javelin and picking up personal bests in the 100-meter hurdles, the high jump and the 200 meters.

  • Track sets personal bests at Bobby Lane Invite

    A week after the UNO women’s track and field team began the spring schedule at the Tulsa Duals, the Mavs achieved more success at the Bobby Lane Invitational at Texas-Arlington.  UNO set three personal bests and had two athletes finish highly after competing in events for the first time in their careers.

  • Track and field ends indoor season

    The UNO women's track field team concluded their indoor season Friday at the Nebraska Tune-Up in Lincoln at the Devaney Center.  Just like the last few weeks, records were broken and personal bests were beaten as the Mavs get ready for the outdoor season.

    Since the beginning of the season, the UNO women's track and field team has been setting personal bests and meet records weekend after weekend.  Last Saturday at the Concordia Indoor Invitational in Seward, Neb. was no different.

  • Laidley sets meet record

    The UNO track and field team traveled to Wichita State last weekend, competing in the Varsity Apartments Invitational. By the end of the meet, one of the Mavs' best athletes earned an event win and established a new meet record.

  • Personal bests set at Jennett Invite

    The UNO women's track and field team will head to Wichita this weekend off a very successful performance in Cedar Falls, Iowa.  At the Jack Jennett Invite at the University of Northern Iowa, the Mavs earned two first-place finishes among several personal bests on the weekend.

Milliken heads UNO bass fishing club

Ben Milliken started a bass fishing club at UNO because he enjoys fishing and the competition it provides. When he is fishing, Milliken said, he thinks about where the fish will be, how to line up the next cast and whether to stay or go to a different location on the water.

UNO student dishes out on-air laughs

Age is no barrier to success. Perform in a band, write field guides, attend college and perform an on-air comedy show are just a few items on Ben Tompkins’ list of daily activities; items most people would only find on their bucket list. Tompkins seems to be a real-life Energizer bunny.
