Vance Rookwood scored a goal in the 74th minute to give Univesity of Nebraska at Omaha the win over Western Illinois, Saturday at the UNO soccer field. The goal gives UNO it’s second victory this season, both of which have come at the foot of Rookwood.

Western Illinois jumped out to an early lead with a goal from Drew Edmond in the 25th minute. Mark Moulton squared the game for the Mavs, netting his first career goal in the 39th minute tying the game at 1.

In the second half, Chava Garcia placed a ball for Joe Marinkovic whose shot was deflected, then collected by Rookwood who scored. Giving him his third goal of the season and second game winner.

The Mavs led the Leathernecks  14-to-8 in the game. UNO goes on 2-5-1 on the season and last year’s summit league champions Western Illinois drop to 1-7.

The Mavs face Milwaukee at home Wednesday at 4 p.m.
