“Pink Out” meet for UNO swimming and diving

The Maverick swimming and diving team hosted their first home meet of the season last Friday. In a “Pink Out” meet to support breast cancer, UNO had several strong performances but the Mavs were defeated 154-83 by in-state rival Nebraska.

Individually, sophomore Lexi Bergeron came up big for UNO, finishing first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:38.27.  As a team the Mavs dominated the 200-yard breast stroke claiming the top three spots. 

Junior Maddie Hutt breezed into first place with a time of 2:22.06. Senior Katie Maier rolled into second with a time of 2:35.9 and freshman Jordane Linhart completed the sweep coming in third at 2:37.54.The 400 medley relay team of Hutt, freshman Natalie Renshaw, sophomore Christen Young and junior Whitney Korgan swam to a second place finish with a time of 4:00.72.

The Mavs also did well in the 100 yard freestyle and 200 yard backstroke with swimmers finishing in second, third and fourth places in both events.  The loss drops UNO to 0-2 on the young season.
