The HPER Center has a new Assistant Director of Marketing and External Affairs. Mark Joekel, a graduate of Buena Vista University, joins the HPER staff with a degree in Sport and Fitness Management and a minor in Communications.

Joekel played basketball at Buena Vista, and his career has taken him to other places such as the University of Wyoming, the University of Alabama at Birmingham and Creighton.  It’s been just two years since the campus recreation center was remodeled, and Joekel is excited to let people know what HPER has to offer.

Joekel said that one of his favorite features of the new HPER is the variety of three different workout areas.

“You have the option to choose from three different views, making it almost scenic,” Joekel said.

He also mentioned the rock climbing wall as a favorite.  Joekel said the rock wall offers different levels of difficulty and an intense workout.

“HPER has something for everyone,” Joekel said.
