UNO student cited for unlawful actions

A UNO student has been cited for two counts of unlawful intrusion and was banned and barred from campus after the Omaha Police Department responded to a radio call made to UNO, according to a statement released by the OPD on Feb. 1.Twenty two-year-old Frank Marescalco allegedly planted a video camera in a laundry pile in a women's restroom and taped at least two girls while they were using the restroom and showering, according to the statement. Police reported the incident as occurring between February 2008 and May 2009.

The incident occurred in Scott Residence Hall, said Wendy Townley, UNO sssistant director of media relations. Though he is not allowed on campus grounds, Townley said he is still enrolled as a UNO student.

Marescalco is a member of the UNO Student Advisory Board, whose Web site cited him as a sophomore majoring in physics and civic engineering.

During the investigation police confiscated two cameras and computer equipment before citing Marescalco.

Officer Michael Pecha, a police spokesman, said in an e-mail that Marescalco doesn't have any mugshots from any previous contact. Although the victims' names were released in the statement released to the local media, Pecha said news sources were currently withholding the names to protect the victims.

Attempts to reach Marescalco for comment by phone were unsuccessful.
