Goodbye Mr. Stolarz. UNO's freshman second round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers is leaving the Mavs to play Major Junior hockey with the London (Ontario) Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.

Monday afternoon head coach Dean Blais announced that the Mavs will lose freshman goaltender Anthony Stolarz to Major Junior Hockey. Stolarz is leaving UNO to play with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League.

The departure of Stolarz leaves John Faulkner and Dayn Belfour as the only remaining goalies on the Maverick roster.

Stolarz is from Jackson, N.J., and appeared in eight games this season, starting seven. The freshman had a 2-5-0 record with a 2.56 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage.

Stolarz was in goal for UNO’s only shutout of the season, an 8-0 win over Alabama-Huntsville on Nov. 24.

In last July’s NHL draft, Stolarz was chosen in the second round by the Philadelphia Flyers.
