  • adoptee Adoptee and mentor, student Lewandowski shares Indian heritage

    Andrew Lewandowski comes from a heritage that is both meaningful, different and rich in tradition. Lewandowski and his sister Sarah, both UNO students, were adopted from a young age. Lewandowski was adopted as a baby from Calcutta, India and Sarah, was adopted from Daejeon, South Korea. 

  • rally Students rally in support of equal employment

    Creighton student Eric Juszyk rallied in support of city council's Ben Gray's introduced Equal Employment ordinance  on March 3. The rally began at 11:30 at the  top of Memorial Park as supporters marched to the bridge over Dodge Street. UNO as well as Creighton students were present. Passers-by in favor of the message promoting equality showed their support by honking and giving thumbs-ups, resulting in a positive response for the rally.

    "I'm Jack Heidel.  I'm running for Congress in the Republican primary.  My platform is to eliminate the deficit and the incumbent, Lee Terry, is not doing anything about it." A fiscally conservative candidate, Heidel incorporated a touch of humor to his stance, alluding to the sarcasm of obvious conventions he must follow to represent his campaign.

    Omaha Table Talk to Discuss Post-Racial America at Annual Potluck Omaha Table Talk will be hosting its third annual Ethnic Potluck Dinner and Discussion on Thursday, Feb. 16 with a focus on promise of a post-racial society in America. Housed in the College of Public Affairs and Community Service (CPACS) at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), Omaha Table Talk is a program that brings diverse racial and ethnic groups together over dinner to discuss issues of race.

Milliken heads UNO bass fishing club

Ben Milliken started a bass fishing club at UNO because he enjoys fishing and the competition it provides. When he is fishing, Milliken said, he thinks about where the fish will be, how to line up the next cast and whether to stay or go to a different location on the water.

Age is no barrier to success. Perform in a band, write field guides, attend college and perform an on-air comedy show are just a few items on Ben Tompkins’ list of daily activities; items most people would only find on their bucket list. Tompkins seems to be a real-life Energizer bunny.
