UNO to host Model United Nations March 3-5

The third annual Model United Nations (U.N.) at UNO is set for Friday through Sunday, March 3-5, and will involve nine area high schools and two teams of home-schooled students. Members of Sigma Iota Rho, the UNO international studies major honor society, will coordinate the event.

The Model U.N. is sponsored by the Qwest Global Education Fund and UNO/University of Nebraska Medical Center International Studies and Programs, in cooperation with the Metropolitan Omaha Educational Consortium.

Model U.N. activities kick off Friday, March 3, at 5:30 p.m. with registration and an introductory session. Model U.N. work begins Saturday, March 4, at 10 a.m. in Room 438 of Arts and Sciences Hall. The Model U.N. reconvenes Sunday, March 5, at the same time and location.

Participating high schools include Bellevue East, Bellevue West, Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson, Duchesne Academy, Elkhorn, Omaha Benson, Omaha Burke, Omaha Mercy and Papillion-LaVista South. Fourteen home-schooled students will also take part, in addition to a dozen high school foreign exchange students.

University Library announces construction, spring break hours

University Library will be closed Saturday, March 11, and Sunday, March 12, due to construction on the new addition. Electricity will be switched off in order to connect the addition to the existing building's power supply and fire alarm systems.

A special generator will be installed, so all online databases and other Web-based library services will be available without interruption.

University Library will be open March 13-17, according to the following schedule:

Monday, March 13, through Thursday, March 16
8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday, March 17
8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

UNO Job Fair March 8

Career Exploration and Outreach will host a job fair Wednesday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Milo Bail Student Center Ballroom. The event will feature employers who are actively seeking candidates for open positions and internships.

Professional interview attire is expected, and students can pre-register to attend the fair through Friday, March 3.

To register, students must have a profile on the UNO CareerConnect system. Students can visit unoceo.unomaha.edu and click on the "CareerConnect" link to create a profile and register for the fair.
