UNO junior Tony Digilio checks out the Department of Computer Science faculty and staff poster exhibit inside the Peter Kiewitt Institute on Dec. 8. The poster exhibit is on display in honor of Computer Science Week.

UNO Computer Science majors engaged in sessions on careers in computer science from Dec. 6 through 10.

Through these events, the College of Information Science and Technology and UNO Department of Computer Science aimed to eliminate misconceptions about computer science careers and promote educational opportunities.

Events began Monday with a lecture from Dennis Frailey, principal fellow at Raytheon Company and an adjunct professor of Computer Science at Southern Methodist University. The presentation was titled "Topics Often Ignored in Computing Education."

Computer Science week also includes a display of the department's poster exhibition, as well as a student awards ceremony and a High School Challenge Computer Science Bowl on Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. All events are free to the campus community and public.

For more information, visit the Peter Kiewit Institute at 1110 S. 67 St. or call 554-2847.
