As the Hullabaloo Music and Camping Festival reaches its third year, Brandon Miller, event founder, and Kris Lager Band bassist, has gone above and beyond to ensure this year’s festival is unlike any other.
From Sept. 6-8 at Sokol Park in Bellevue, Neb., Hullabaloo attendees will get to experience custom art and light installations, midnight movies, a parade, a tunnel walk and almost non-stop live music that spans from blues to indie to hip-hop.
While past lineups have included mostly local artists, this year nearly half of the bill will be taken by national acts like former lead singer of Ween, Aaron Freeman (aka Gene Ween), Blackalicious, Monophonics and the Icky Blossoms.
Local favorites will include Ian Hilmer, the Kris Lager Band, Sophistafunk, BASSthoven, Midland Band and many more.
But, the music is just the tip of the iceberg. The atmosphere is sure to be a show of its own.
“The atmosphere is something we work really hard to make pleasing for everyone,” said Miller. “We wanted to make it family friendly but at the same time we wanted to stretch people’s imaginations and freak their minds out a little. We tried to make something for everyone. For the people that just want to hang out and don’t feel like getting down on the dance floor, we’ll have midnight movies each night. For the people that want to be artistic, we’re going to have a really fun group art project. There’s really going to be something for everyone.”
With last year’s attendance reaching around 1,000, Miller said that this year they’re planning on doubling, if not tripling the turnout.
Tickets are $80 for all three nights, including camping. A pre-party will be held Thursday, Sept. 5, admission is $10. Single night passes are available Friday and Saturday for $30 each, and Sunday for $20. Single night passes include camping until noon the following day.
