Art can be provocative. It can be powerful. It can be beautiful. The “Les Femmes Folles: Voice” exhibit, co-curated by Sally Deskins and Megan Loudon Sanders and currently on display at The New Blk (black) at 1213 Jones St., embodies all of these things.

Graduation is a month away, and the final exhibitions of the spring 2012 semester hosted opening receptions Sunday, Apr. 1, in two UNO art galleries. Students were excited and eager to display their work for family, friends and alumni in a gallery setting.

The Bemis Center, located in downtown Omaha on 12th and Leavenworth streets, is a place for contemporary artists to share their work with the Omaha community.  It's been home to hundreds of exhibits.

"Have you ever been to Chernobyl?"

That's a question that most of us have never been asked.

Chris Raschka had a monumental decision to  make. He could either go to medical school, which would mean closing his sketch books for the next 10 years, or he could take a leap of faith into an art career.

"Unhung: Created by Design," a new exhibit at the H. Don & Connie J. Osborn Family Gallery, has a variety of pieces, including photographs and 3-D imagery.

The latest exhibit at UNO's art gallery features works by undergraduate students in the departments of Fine Arts and Art History. The juried exhibition was presided over by local artist and Creighton professor of graphic design, Tim Guthrie.

The romance and intrigue often associated with Ancient Egypt has come to Omaha's Joslyn Art Museum.

On the corner of 11th and Howard streets, imagination takes over to present the Old Market Omaha with a new featured artist each month. However, two artists were featured last month: Judith Anthony Johnston and J.K. Thorsen, whose artwork both fit the concept of the Artists' Cooperative Gallery, "connecting local art and worldly wanderers."
